Geneva community gives back

“If anyone has material possessions and sees his brother in need but has no pity on him, how can the love of God be in him? Dear children, let us not love with words or tongue but with actions and in truth.”
- 1 John 3:17-18

With the intent of serving and helping our neighbors as Christ instructs us to do, members of the Geneva College are giving back to the people near the college.

In November, Geneva participated in the Pantry Bowl and enabled the City Rescue Mission to provide 381 Thanksgiving Day food baskets for families in Beaver County. The food was collected from the college and the community. Organizer Linda Sumner says, “Thank you to all those on campus who helped with the Pantry Bowl. Your generosity is greatly appreciated.”

In December, the GEMS (Going the Extra Mile with a Smile) steering committee is sponsoring “Toys for Tots” and has placed collection in Northwood, Science and Engineering, and the student center. Donations of new unwrapped toys for the children in our community should be placed in the boxes by Friday, December 3.

With another end date of Friday, December 3, the Business and Professional Women’s Club (BPW) is holding its annual clothing drive. BPW invites members of the Geneva community to donate clothes specifically for professional clothing for women seeking jobs. Boxes for donations can be found in residence halls, Northwood and in Alexander Hall.
