On behalf of Geneva College, Provost Ken Carson presented a $10,000 contribution to the City of Beaver Falls during the City Council meeting held on the evening of Thursday, September 13.

Mayor Karl Boak expressed the city’s gratitude and accepted two checks: $5,000 for the Fire Department and $5,000 for the Police Department. Mayor Boak later presented the individual checks to Fire Chief Mark Stowe and Chief of Police Charles “Mick” Jones.

Dr. Carson shared a message from Geneva President Ken Smith to the council, saying, “We appreciate the efforts of city officials, police officers, fire fighters and many others who serve the college and our students.” He went on to thank them specifically for their efforts during the search for missing student Devon Minor during the spring 2011 semester, and added, “I hope this contribution assists the city in continuing this excellent level of service to the college and the community at large.”
