The Genevans' Movie Night: Where Dreams Come True!

movie_night.jpgMembers of The Genevans, Geneva College’s student choir, will present musical numbers from Disney classics during the ensemble’s annual benefit concert, “The Genevans' Movie Night: Where Dreams Come True!”

Performances will be Friday, February 22 at 7:30 p.m. and Saturday, February 23 at 6:30 p.m. in John White Chapel of Old Main.

“This concert will provide an evening of beautiful performances, nostalgia and laughter,” says Professor of Music Louise Copeland.

Proceeds will benefit the choir with its ministry, including the group’s international mission tour of Southeast Asia planned for the spring of 2014.

“Because the Genevans will be singing in Orlando, Florida, on their spring tour this year, they thought for their movie night that it would be a great idea to sing hits first heard in Disney films,” said conductor Dr. Kenneth Smith. “Since then, they've been busily preparing their favorite songs and ensembles.”

Included in the evening’s performances, sophomore Olivia Mitchell will portray Ursula from The Little Mermaid as she sings "Poor Unfortunate Souls." Female ensemble The Grace Notes will perform a medley from the same movie. Senior Ian Taylor will perform "Can You Feel the Love Tonight" from The Lion King. The finale will be performed by The Genevans, with music from Mary Poppins.

Tickets are $8 for adults and $5 for students and children at the door.

Tickets purchased in advance are at a $1 discount and may be purchased by contacting Ruth Vos, Secretary of the Music Department, at 724-847-6660 or rcvos@geneva.edu.
