Geneva’s Got Talent

The Geneva College Student Union (GCSU) hosted the second annual Geneva’s Got Talent competition this December in John White Chapel. Students packed the chapel to support their fellow classmates and enjoy a fun-filled night.

“We were really excited to see such a great student turn out again this year. Our hope is that this event continues each year and becomes one of the recognizable events on campus,” said Monica Miller, VP of Communications for the GCSU.

Students showcased their talents from yo-yo to dancing, singing and much more. The show benefited from an influx of new talent. “It was really nice to see the freshmen class participate in this year’s talent show,” said Melodie Michaelson. “I’m part of student activities and it’s always great to see fresh new faces display their talent and skills for the school.”

One of the biggest surprises of the night was Dr. Byron Curtis’ special collaboration with his daughter, Naomi. She sang to his piano accompaniment. The audience responded with great applause, and the duet won the third-place prize. Second place went to Caleb Musselman, who sang an original song with Tyler Kiser on guitar. In the end, Josh Mauro claimed the first-place prize with “jaw-dropping” yo-yo tricks.
