pic-catanzarite.jpgRenowned author and speaker Stephen Catanzarite will be at Geneva College on Thursday, April 12 at 7:30 p.m. and Friday, April 13 at 10:10 a.m. Both appearances will be in John White Chapel of Old Main. His Thursday evening presentation is “Redeeming Culture through the Arts.” On Friday, he will discuss the music of the popular rock band, U2.

Catanzarite is the author of Achtung Baby: Meditations on Love in the Shadow of the Fall. In the book, he discusses U2’s Achtung Baby album as it relates to religion, politics, spirituality and culture. Catanzarite proposes that the work is a concept album about love and the fall of man.

He is the managing director of the Lincoln Park Performing Arts Center in Midland, PA, one of Pennsylvania’s largest performing arts organizations, and a member of the founders' group and primary spokesman for the proposed Baden Academy Charter School.

Additionally, Catanzarite is the writer and producer of the podcast series “Arts Alive!” as well as the founder of both the Henry Mancini Arts Academy and the Pennsylvania Summer School of the Arts. He has developed the curriculum for an online course on the history and development of American popular music for high school students.

Catanzarite writes, “It is my goal to continue developing new and strategic partnerships between and among private enterprise, nonprofit organizations, government agencies and faith-based communities that create new opportunities for people to reach their fullest potential and improve the quality of life in western Pennsylvania and the surrounding region.”

Catanzarite is coming to the college as part of the Geneva Visiting Artist and Lecture Series. Both of his appearances are free and open to the public.
