Homecoming 2009

Homecoming 2009 is an event you do not want to miss. With events for all ages, the Geneva College community invites everyone to share the excitement and entertainment. Festivities will continue all day throughout the campus this Saturday, October 10 beginning at 10 a.m.

  • Locate the missing treasure across campus in the all-day scavenger hunt across campus. There are groups for every age and the opportunity to be entered for prizes.
  • A reflection service will be held at 10:30 a.m. in Skye Lounge led by Geneva professor Dr. Terry Thomas.
  • The College Hill Festival will take place between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m. on McKee lawn. Vendors that will be participating in the event will include Brusters, Chick-Fil-A, 8th Ave Pub, Beaver Falls Coffee and Tea Company and several local churches. Food will include grilled ribs, ice cream, chili, funnel cakes and much more, so bring your appetite.
  • A full craft fair will also take place during this time. The crafters will be located along Geneva’s sidewalks between McCartney and Old Main. Item s for sale will include hand knit sweaters, homemade handbags, local art work and hand crafted jewelry.
  • Musical entertainment includes: Mark Rice, a professional musician and Geneva alumnus; Call of the Mild, a group of current Geneva students; and Hart to Heart, a group of Geneva alumni.
  • Tickets will be sold for small carnival games that are run by clubs here on Geneva’s campus. These include the dunk tank, high striker and inflatable jousting.
  • Pisgah’s zip line (located behind McKee Hall) will be open from 10 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. and free pony rides and the petting zoo will be available from 12:30 to 3:30.
  • A dedication service will be held at 2:30 p.m. in celebration of the completion of the Beyond the Bend project. The Geneva College community will join together to dedicate and celebrate the opening of our new and improved campus at the pedestrian walkway.
  • Join Geneva in cheering on the Golden Tornados football team as they take on the Grove City Wolverines at 4 p.m. Show your Geneva spirit by wearing black for the black-out effect in the stands. During halftime, the annual crowning of the king and queen will take place along with a performance of the Geneva marching band.
  • Enjoy the Genevans performing at a Homecoming Concert after the football game. The Genevans will be performing in John White Chapel, with doors open at 8 p.m. Tickets are $4 in advance or $5 at the door for students and choir alumni. Tickets for all others are $6 in advance and $8 at the door.

In addition to these events, the Brigadoon and Riverview Café will be open throughout the weekend. The sub line and the “C” store will be open in the Brig on Friday, October 9 from 8 a.m. – 8 p.m. and on Saturday from 7:30 – 11:30 p.m. The Riverview Café will be open on Friday from 7:30 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. and 6:30 – 8 p.m. and on Saturday from 7:30 – 11:30 p.m. The 5th quarter will be held during this time in the Brig. The big screen will be down showing college football games and there will be three other football games on the side TV’s.
