Works of Our Hands

The Honors Programs of Geneva College presents “Works of Our Hands,” a celebration of senior honors research and Academic Partners projects.  Project posters will be on display from December 5-12 in the lobby of Alexander Hall.

“The posters give you a ‘Reader’s Digest’ version of the projects, which are scholarly and intensive,” explains the Honors Program Graduate Assistant Kara Lee Mantinaos.

Participants present their research projects throughout the fall semester. These students were honored, along with the project advisors, at a banquet on Thursday, December 1.

Upcoming presentations include:

  • “The Amazing Math Race,” by math education major Breanna Lantz on December 7 at 4 p.m. in the Science and Engineering Building, Room 312B
  • “A Melodic Narrative: Remembering the Holocaust Through Music,” by music education and vocal performance major Lauren Holmes on December 8 at 11a.m. in Old Main, Room 21
  • “The New Paranoid Style: American Conspiracism in 21st Century,” by political science major Jonathon Cosgrove on December 12 at 4 p.m. in Fern Cliffe
  • “Translations of Colossians and Philemon,” by computer science major Keith Pinson on December 8 at 4:30 p.m. in Old Main, Room 20
  • “Rediscovering the Past in a Medieval Literature Course,” by English education major Danielle Nowak on December 9 at 10:10 a.m. in Fern Cliffe

Senior biblical studies major Courtney Robel presented her project, “Anorexia Nervosa: From Addiction to Restoration,” during Chapel on September 21, and senior computer science major Erin Bruker presented “Development of E-Learning Environments” on November 22.

The Senior Honors Research Project (SHRP) is open to senior honors students. Qualified students are invited to participate in the Academic Partners Project, which pairs participating students with an advisor, providing a stipend to conduct necessary research.
