Dr. James E. Warden (1924-2009)

James WardenProfessor Emeritus of Education Dr. James E. Warden went to be with his Lord on Friday, November 13, 2009.

A longtime member of the Geneva College community, Dr. Warden taught in the Department of Education from 1967 to 1992. He had a passion for Christian education and was a founding board member of the Beaver County Christian School. He was a member of College Hill Reformed Presbyterian Church. Dr. Warden was also a veteran, having served in the United States Navy during World War II.

Dr. Warden graduated from the University of Pittsburgh in 1949 and from Faith Seminary in 1952. He received his master’s degree from Temple University in 1954, and his Doctor of Education in 1973 from the University of Pittsburgh.

He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Jane Burgett Warden; his five children and their spouses: James and Janis Warden, Pella, Iowa; David Warden, South Beaver Township, Pa.; Steven Warden, Darlington, Pa.; Mark and Diana Warden, Springfield, Va; and Patricia and David Iriana, Forest Hills, Pa.; his thirteen grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
