Geneva College is pleased to announce the addition of Janet Barlett as the new major gifts officer in Institutional Advancement. Barlett will manage a major gift portfolio of donors and work with the president, board of trustees, advancement team, and others to strengthen the college’s resource base.
Barlett comes to Geneva with 23 years of development experience. She was most recently the vice president of development and executive director for the Presbyterian SeniorCare Foundation in Oakmont, PA, where she worked with a 41-member committee to raise funds for a new healthcare center, and created and administered an employee loan program.
Her previous experience also includes serving as the executive director of development for Grove City College from 2000-2004, supervising its fund raising initiatives and managing a capital campaign. Barlett was also the director of development for the University of Pittsburgh’s School of Nursing, the director of individual giving for the Pittsburgh Mercy Foundation and the director of the annual fund at Carlow College.
“Janet’s experience and long-term ties to the Pittsburgh community make her a wonderful addition to the advancement team,” says Vice President for Advancement Jeff Jones.
Barlett graduated from Carlow University in 1987 with a bachelor’s degree in communication arts. She received her master of science in organization leadership from Geneva College in 2005. Barlett has been a Certified Fund Raising Executive (CFRE) since 1994 and received the Outstanding Fundraising Executive Award from the Association of Fundraising Professionals in 2003.
