Tenth Avenue North Concert

Christian rock band Tenth Avenue North, joined by Guest artists Audrey Assad and Rend Collective Experiment, will perform at Geneva College’s Metheny Fieldhouse on Thursday September 27, 2012. The concert will begin at 7 p.m., with doors opening at 6 p.m. This concert is a production of Generation: Exodus and sponsored by Geneva College.

Tickets that are purchased through Geneva are discounted to $15, including all fees. A limited number of tickets are available and are on sale now.

tenth-ave-north-pic.jpgTenth Avenue North’s debut 2008 studio album, Over and Underneath, garnered the band critical acclaim, with the single "Love Is Here" reaching number three on the U.S. Contemporary Christian Music chart. After receiving a GMA Dove award for 2009’s New Artist of the Year, Tenth Avenue North continued to gain traction with their sophomore album, The Light Meets the Dark, which became the number one Christian album and number seven rock album on the U.S. charts. A third album, The Struggle, will be released this August 21.

Audrey Assad is a singer, songwriter and artist with two albums—The House You’re Building and Heart—to her credit. The album Heart is aptly named, as Audrey imbues her music with authentic emotion. As one reviewer put it, “What you hear is someone who is writing from an honest perspective. Someone doing her best to figure out life as it comes.”

The Rend Collective Experiment is composed of six touring and recording members, though others are involved as supporting voices. Their albums include 2010’s Organic Family Hymnal and 2012’s Homemade Worship by Handmade People. The former album is described as ‘organic’ because, according to drummer and team leader Gareth Gilkeson, the music “came from a very deep place with God.”

For current Geneva students only, a very limited number of further discounted tickets will be available through Student Activities in September. Geneva students may purchase one ticket per student ID for $5.
