GVALS speaker Thomas O’Boyle

Thomas F. O’Boyle will present “The Path of C.S. Lewis:  Pain as the gateway to a spiritual journey” at Geneva College on Wednesday, February 22 in John White Chapel of Old Main at 7:30 p.m. A writer, teacher and newspaper executive, O’Boyle has been invited to come to campus as part of the Geneva Visiting Artist and Lecture Series.

For several years, O’Boyle has been researching a book on C.S. Lewis with the working title My Search for C.S. Lewis. He recently published “The Eternal C.S. Lewis: Now, More than Ever” in the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, and frequently lectures on the life and works of C.S. Lewis.

O’Boyle is also the author of At Any Cost: Jack Welch, General Electric, and the Pursuit of Profit, which was named one of the year’s best books by The Philadelphia Inquirer in 1998. The book continues to garner attention to this day.

An adjunct professor at Carnegie Mellon University, O’Boyle currently teaches advanced journalism classes on new digital media and non-fiction writing. In addition, he has worked at the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette as assistant managing editor and as a senior executive in audience development for print and digital products since 1994. As a former staff writer and editor for The Wall Street Journal, he covered a variety of domestic and international stories, including the events leading up to the fall of the Berlin Wall.

O’Boyle graduated from Allegheny College with a degree in English literature, and later earned his master’s degree in journalism from Medill School of Journalism at Northwestern University.

This event is free and open to the public.
