Dear parents,

Greetings from the Office of Career Development. Scripture, as stated in Ephesians, provides the promise of God’s plan for all of us. He has prepared each of us in advance to do His work. Our department strives to help students rise to the challenge of building Christ’s kingdom through discovering and embracing their calling.

As a parent, you deal with challenges in helping your sons and daughters navigate this process. You face many difficult questions, such as:

• What are my children’s vocational gifts?
• Are they making decisions in line with these gifts?
• How can I help them?
• When should I step in?
• What resources should I connect them with?
• How do I help my children balance “following your heart” with “finding security and having a plan”?

Your son or daughter’s current calling is being a student and developing intellectually. The rigorous, Christ-centered scholarship at Geneva fosters this academic growth and challenges students to realize their full potential. Faculty, staff, roommates, friends, co-curricular activities and campus community are another part of this process, providing direction each and every day. The Office of Career Development is also here to help.

Programs and services provided by Career Development  to help your students discern and follow God's plan for their lives include:

• Calling and vocation programs intended to help students pursue their vocational calling.
• Career assessment and career counseling designed to inventory skills, talents, abilities, personality type, values and occupational interests.
• Career awareness programs and resources which help students explore their options and teach them how to achieve their goals.
• Professional development opportunities such as internships, job shadowing, career networking and more.
• Backpack to Briefcase programs designed to help transition students into their careers.
• Graduate school and job search programs and services to help students navigate their way.
