Bats Silenced in Doubleheader Loss To Northwestern

Ft. Pierce, FL – The Geneva College baseball team got a pair of outstanding pitching performances on Saturday but the offense went missing in a doubleheader loss to Northwestern College. The Golden Tornadoes dropped the first game 3-0 before falling 1-0 in the night cap. The losses dropped Geneva’s overall record to 3-6.

Geneva managed just two hits in game one while Northwestern came away with seven hits. Doug Sanson and Caleb Kilgore combined for the seven inning effort with Sanson coming away with the hard luck loss.

As impressive as Geneva’s pitching duo was in game one, Mike Jeffreys was even more dominant in the night cap. Jeffreys struck out 11 batters and allowed just four hits in the 1-0 loss. Unfortunately for Jeffreys and the Golden Tornadoes, three of those hits came on consecutive singles in the third inning. Geneva had just one hit in the game two loss and just three combined in the twinbill.

Following an off day on Sunday, the Golden Tornadoes will close out their Florida trip with an 8 am doubleheader against Hilbert College on Monday morning.
