Beaver Falls, PA– Led by four individual second place finishes, the Geneva College men’s indoor track and field team finished second at the five-team Oberlin Invitational.
The Golden Tornadoes that finished second were sophomore Jacob Mellinger (Leetonia, OH) in the 400 meters, senior Matt Logan in the shot put, (Myerstown, PA), and freshmen Cameron Unrath (Wexford) in the 60 meters and Michael Savino (Altoona) in the 60 hurdles. In addition, both the 4x200 and 4x400 relay teams grabbed silver medals.
The Geneva women finished and were led by a second place finish in the shot put by junior Sara Williams (Wellsboro, PA).
“We had four men qualify for the NCCAA nationals at the meet,” said Geneva head coach Brian Yowler, referring to junior Josh Guiser (Frazier HS), Mellinger, Savino, and Unrath. “On the women’s side, the vast majority of the team is just freshmen so we’re gaining valuable experience at the college level.”
Both teams return to action Friday at Baldwin-Wallace.
