Beaver Falls, PA – Senior Outside Hitter, Ashley Davis, has been selected as the Sports Imports/American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) Division III Women Player of the Week. Each week Sports Imports and the AVCA select a student-athlete that has distinguished themselves on the court during the week’s competitions. Davis is the first in the history of Geneva College to receive this award from Sports Imports and the AVCA.
Davis’ work along with the rest of the Golden Tornadoes finished the week 4-0 in conference play. The Golden Tornadoes opened the week at Washington & Jefferson where Davis smacked 20 kills obtaining a .450 hitting percentage. Later in the week during Geneva’s home opener, Davis earned 19 kills and 11 digs over Thomas More. Saturday Davis played a single set against Waynesburg. In the single set she recorded eight kills in nine attempts and another 16 digs. Davis finished the week averaging 5.17 kills a set, 2.83 digs a set and seven aces in the play equating to a .401 hitting percentage for the week.
