Public Safety Appreciation Dinner 2007This year's Public Safety Appreciation Dinner will honor local police and fire personnel as well as longtime Director of Security Bob Jones. Set for 6 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 31, the event is Geneva's way of saying thanks to those who watch over the college campus on a daily basis. In addition to expressing appreciation for the work public-safety employees carry out, the festivities will include recognition of Jones, who is retiring after holding the position of director of security at Geneva for 11 years. Jones was acting director for five years prior and before that was a security guard for many years. A graduate of Beaver Falls High School, Jones attended Geneva and is a graduate of the Pennsylvania State Police Academy. An active member of his community and church, Jones has received a number of special honors during his career. These include designation as the state's Police Office of the Year in 1980, recognition for saving five different persons in the line of duty, establishing the first juvenile law-enforcement educational program in the Beaver Falls School District and becoming the first fulltime director of security at Geneva. Jones and his wife, Deborah, have two children, Robert Jr. and Richard. |
