October 23, 2007

Tom Pyle called the meeting to order at 9:30 p.m.  Josh Gmys was absent, and Chito Samaniego was his replacement.  Conlan Walsh opened in prayer.

1) Ashley Luciano moved to pass the minutes of Tuesday, October 2, 2007.  Meg Diemer seconded the motion.  Motion passed 11-0-1.

I) Announcements:

2) Tom Pyle asked RC Representatives to sign-up for one-on-one’s to be held in the near future.

3) Tom Pyle announced that there are packets for “Who’s Who’ elections to be turned into Joy Jewel.  Members were asked to turn them in after the meetings.

II) Dorm Updates:

a. Pearce—John Bennett—There are Pearce dinners held every Tuesday night.  The newsletters are up.  There is a big interest in the upcoming Halo III Tournament this Friday, which is a fundraiser for the Jamaica Missions Trip.  The dorm started recycling glass and bottles.

b. Memorial—Garrett Marvich—There are still two guys living in lounge.  There is a fight over the TV in the lounge, but Travis York (RD) is involved and the dorm has come to a compromise.

c. Clarke—Megan Diemer—A floor from Clarke played “The Game”, and there is a planned group for Big Bad Big Wheel Rally.  The bible studies are still going on.  The newsletter was out on time.  The pizza party won for the Homecoming murals will be held on November 14.

d. McKee—Ashley Luciano—The building is talking about having a progressive dinner and teaming with the MCA Heather Knight; each ½ floor would be a different nationality with a speaker.  She decided to put a devotion in each of the newsletter and has had positive feedback with that.

e. Young North—Josh Gmys—Newsletters are up.  Having one-on-ones with Jensen every other week.  Josh’s goal is to be talking to more residents.  There will be a broom ball tournament against Arms at 11 p.m. on October 25, and it is a free event.

f. Young East—Bonnie Rapp—There are a few different programs being planned: community trick-or-treat, brick painting in the lounge (a Young East tradition), and thinking about having a Thanksgiving progressive dinner.

g. Arms Men—Conlan Walsh—Halo III Tournament is generating excitement in the building.  Conlan passed newsletters to individual rooms by putting them up in the bathrooms.  The RA’s are encouraging a lot of the activities coming up (Broom Ball, BBBWR, Movie Discussions).  He has been receiving feedback from residents looking into possibilities of some type of dodgeball tournament or increasing community through a promo-giveaway for doors that are open.

h. Arms Women—Lindsay Moore—The MC and bunch of RA’s participated in a gallery crawl.  The building team did a scavenger hunt for team bonding.  A total of 13 girls participated in the walk-a-thon.

i. Houses—Nate Davies—There is not a whole lot going on.  Kerr had bible study kick-off with a cooked dinner and NOOMA material.

j. Commuters—Katherine Bull—She is concentrating on a theme for every newsletter.

III) New Proposals

1) Nate Davies moved to allocate $300 to purchase a new TV for Kerr House.  Garrett Marvich seconded the motion.  The current lounge TV is broken and held together with tape.  Tom Pyle confirmed that the TV is antiquated and a new one would be recommended.  Motion passed 13-0-0.

IV) New Business:

1) Tom Pyle requested that members make more of an effort to turn the newsletters in on time because it is a major part of the job, and there is a month that they have to complete them.  The next newsletters are due November 30.

2) Our Town is Saturday, October 27.  RC members were asked to meet at 8:15 in Skye Lounge.

V) Senate Update: Josh Lee gave the update.  The main event right now is “Our Town”.  The all GCSU meeting is Friday, October 26 at 10:10 in the office.  There was a motion passed to form a committee to look into off-campus housing.  Juniors are planning a get together with Grove City for the Grove City vs. Geneva football game.  Sophomores are working on a chapel survey to distribute throughout campus.  Freshman are looking into a possible basketball court and a speed bump in front of Clarke.

VI) Activities Update: Brandon Baughman gave the update.  Half.Past.Nine, Styles Eclectic, was a success.  There was a lot of student art and music.  “The Game” was October 19 which went well having 70-80 people involved.  “Midnight Madness” will be held October 31 and starts at 11:30 and will last until 12:30/1.  Jubilee Jam will be held on November 13, and will be similar to a Half.Past.Nine but raises awareness about Jubilee.

John Bennett motioned to end the meeting.  Conlan Walsh seconded the motion.  Meeting ended at 9:55.
