October 2, 2007Tom Pyle called the meeting to order at 9:34 p.m. Lindsay Moore opened the meeting in prayer. 1) John Bennett moved to pass the minutes of Tuesday, September 18, 2007. Katherine Bull seconded the motion. Motion passed 11-0-0. Announcements: 2) Tom Pyle described the NCMSLC Conference which will be held November 9-November 11. There are a couple spots open for members of the Union and he asked if there was anyone interested. 3) Tom Pyle announced that the dorm newsletters are due Friday, October 12. Dorm Updates: a. Pearce—John Bennett—He is working on the newsletter. Also, he is possibly looking into getting patio furniture for the spring. b. Memorial—Garrett Marvich— Every floor has their own bible study set up for students to be involved in. The 1st floor is going to a drive-in this weekend. Thankfully, some people have moved out of the lounge! c. Clarke—Megan Diemer—The building won the Homecoming mural competition. There are bible studies throughout the building which are up and running. Megan questioned about the money that was given for the picnic tables last year which were never purchased. d. McKee—Ashley Luciano—The building of the Homecoming Mural was a great activity and many students showed up in support. e. Young North—Josh Gmys— The mural was a great success, and the dorm is currently deciding where the mural with all of the pictures should be placed. f. Young East—Bonnie Rapp—Bonnie agreed with Josh Gmys that the mural building was a success. g. Arms Men—Conlan Walsh—There has been an expressed interest in a Halo III tournament by some of the men in the apartments, and Conlan is looking into that possibility. h. Arms Women— Lindsay Moore—Sign-ups for the Walk-A-Thon are the week of October 1-5 and Saturday is the event. i. Houses—Nate Davies—The Homecoming mural was a disappointment. There will be a bible study kick-off with Larry Hardesty. Nate is interested in getting a group of guys together to help with neighbors and do community service. j. Commuters—Katherine Bull—Expressed the current frustration of many commuters with parking. Senate Update: Josh Lee gave the update. The Freshmen officers are working on getting a basketball hoop in front of Clarke and also a speed bump in front of Clarke. The Sophomore officers are looking into getting new sand for volleyball courts and are trying to figure out the logistics of a sophomore class trip. The Junior officers are looking into a social event for the Grove City vs. Geneva football game. The Senior officers are working on a system to improve the election of the “Teacher of the Year” and off-campus housing. Student Activities Update: Brandon Baughman gave the update. The Homecoming activities were a great success. Student Activities has asked for feedback and have received a lot of positive responses. Half.Past.Nine, “Style Eclectic”, will be held October 9, and will feature live painting, music, and free coffee. The GAME will be held October 19. Midnight Madness will be held October 31.
