November 27, 2007

Tom Pyle called the meeting to order at 9:32 p.m..  Ashley Luciano was absent.   

I) Announcements

1) Bonnie Rapp moved to pass the minutes of Tuesday, November 6, 2007.  Conlan Walsh seconded the motion.  Motion passed 11-0-0. 

2) Newsletters are due November 30. 

II) Dorm Updates:

a. Pearce—John Bennett—The dorm lounge was painted over break.  The dorm is looking into purchasing new computers.  Recycling is still going well.  

b. Memorial—Garrett Marevich—The dorm is decorating for Christmas.  There are many residents moving out and around the dorm next semester. 

c. Clarke—Meg Diemer—The “Winder Wonderland” competition is being prepared for Tuesday, December 4th when the floors will compete against each other.  The ping pong sign-ups went well.  There will be dorm transfers throughout the building for next semester as well. 

d. McKee—Ashley Luciano—There was a multicultural dinner in the dorm with about 45 people in attendance.  There were no sign-ups for the ping pong tournament.  There are multiple Christmas themed floor activities. 

e. Young Men—Josh Gmys—The apartments are decorated.  There is a building team Wednesday, November 28 which Josh will be leading. 

f. Young Women—Bonnie Rapp—The apartment Thanksgiving dinner was a great success.  The progressive dinner planned for the building was pushed back to the spring semester because of event conflicts. 

g. Arms Men—Conlan Walsh—Many residents were inquiring about the next newsletter.  Planning an event for the dorm to be decorated for Christmas, “Christmas Decorating Extravaganza”. 

h. Arms Women—Lindsay Moore—She has been talking to the Discipleship Coordinator about bible studies for the women.  Many girls this semester participated in the “Well groups”.  She is looking forward to the spring semester. 

i. Houses—Nate Davies— Harvest of the Houses was a huge success, with great attendance and participation.  There was a progressive dinner for Thanksgiving.  There will be a building team meeting Wednesday, November 28. 

j. Commuters—Katherine Bull—Continued discussion about the Commons Room and making it a student’s center. 

III) Proposals: Christmas Decorating Extravaganza—Arms Men is planning a Christmas decorating party and needs incentives for the event in the form of gift certificates.  Winners will be judged on the overall decoration of the resident’s room, door, and balcony; judges are being looked into.  Conlan Walsh moved to allocate $60 to the “Christmas Decorating Extravaganza”.  Garrett Marevich seconded the motion.  Motion passed 11-0-0. 

IV) Senate Update: Josh Lee gave the update.  He thanked the representatives for the vacuum cleaner inventory; the information was passed onto the sophomore class officers.  Freshman, sophomore, and junior class officers are working in conjunction with student activities for an all campus Christmas party.  There is an all GCSU meeting this Friday, November 30. 

V) Student Activities Update: Brandon Baughman gave the update.  The “Ryanhood” concert will be 7 p.m. in JWC Friday, November 30.  Tuesday, December 4, Student Activities is partnering with Senate for a Christmas party for Half.Past.Nine.  The party will be spread between Skye Lounge and the Brig.  Planning meeting was held a couple weeks ago to nail down the events for next semester. 

Meg Diemer moved to end the meeting.  John Bennett seconded the motion.  Meeting ended at 9:58 p.m.
