2) Dorm Updates:

a. Pearce — John Bennett: The building team met recently. There is significant participation on each floor for bible study and prayer. The TV is installed and secured in the lounge, and the students are enjoying it regularly. The current project is an attempt to make the outside of Pearce more appealing with a picnic table and mulch.

b. Memorial — Garrett Marvich: The building is having some issues with laundry room cleanliness. Travis York has designed “Memorial Gear” clothing to sell. There is a current proposal for a lounge improvement with flooring.

c. Clarke — Meg Diemer: There was recently a building team meeting. Pearce and Clarke hope to have a “Beauty and the Beast” event, which will be a co-dorm ball. The lounge is now painted green and cream. Also, Meg is planning a “Clarke Potluck” meal.

d. McKee — Ashley Luciano: There was a building event, “Bachelor Night”, with food, fellowship, and the TV series “The Bachelor”. There has not been a building team meeting this semester, and Ashley plans to contact the RD of McKee.

e. Young North — Josh Gmys: He recently held an apartment program that had a panel discussion on gender roles.

f. Young East — Bonnie Rapp: She is still in the process of planning a “Film Fest” after party, and there will be a more detailed proposal presented at the next RC meeting. Young East is selling a clothing line on the internet. There are one-on-ones within the building team.

g. Arms Men — Conlan Walsh: The RA’s posted information on the presidential candidates around the dorm. Conlan is still planning a broomball tournament for Arms Men.

h. Arms Women — Lindsay Moore: She reported that some residents participated in the gender roles discussion. Third floor is doing a “brother event” with 3rd floor of Arms Men.

i. Houses — Nate Davies: Absent.

j. Commuters — Katherine Bull: She is working on a proposal for an outreach to the commuter community.

3) Budget Update: Vanessa Schmuck presented a budget update to show how much money has been allocated for different events and projects.

4) Proposals:

a. “Pearce Picnic Table”: John Bennett - The dorm wants to improve the outside of Pearce with additional seating and a new picnic table. The proposed picnic table is industrial style, and was priced at $580. John Bennett moved to allocate $600 to Pearce for a new picnic table. Meg Diemer seconded the motion. Vanessa Schmuck recommended talking to Nancy Graham before any definite motion is made to have her approval on purchases. Motion passed 10-1-1.

b. “Broomball for Geneva Arms”: Conlan Walsh (presented by Ian Smith) - Many building residents would like to have another broomball tournament at Brady’s Run Ice Rink due to lack of space. Ian Smith moved to allocate $300 to the broomball tournament for Geneva Arms Men. Josh Gmys seconded the motion. Vanessa Schmuck asked if there had been a date chosen; Ian said no. Brandon Baughman asked how many people had been involved in the previous tournament; about 60 residents previously. Motion passed 11-0-1.

c. “Memorial Hall Lounge Improvement”: Garrett Marvich - Garrett has been in discussion with Travis, the RD, about possible improvements to be made in the lounge. A current issue is the flooring in the first floor lounge, a space used by many students. The proposed improvement is to install bamboo wood flooring. Paul Perrine and Residence Life are in full support of this project and have agreed to fund one half of the project. Garrett Marvich moved to allocate $2000 for hardwood flooring and instillation in Memorial lounge. Ashley Luciano seconded the motion. Ashley Luciano asked how they plan to protect the floor if the carpet has been destroyed; Garrett said there will be a protectant on the wood to repel water. John Bennett asked how long the wood was supposed to last; Garrett estimated 10 years. Jeff Kirksey asked if there was a proposal submitted to the capital budget; Garrett said that there had been a request granted for $2000. Josh Gmys asked what the purpose of the flooring is; Garrett said that the carpeting is not cooperative. Recommendations were made to look into other alternatives. Motion failed 3-5-3.

5) Senate Update: Josh Lee gave the update. The Freshman Class Officers planned, and held, an ice skating event Saturday, March 15. The Senior Class Officers are still in the process of planning Senior Week. The “Union University Restored” Committee raised $500, which was doubled by Student Development, for a total of $1000. Garrett Marvich asked the RC members to include in their newsletters information about donating to the fund. Last week the Capital Budget Team met and decided on the budget, and the Commons Room proposal was passed on to the next level. It seems very likely that money will be allocated to this effort. The Food Committee is looking into making a new recipe book.

6) Activities Update: Brandon Baughman gave the update. The “World Series of Pop Culture” Event went well on March 15. There will be an international themed Half.Past.Nine on Tuesday, March 25, because of available resources it will be Chinese themed.  MGN is on April 18.  Brandon passed out the Guitar Hero rules, and the Guitar Hero based Half.Past.Nine will be April 8.  The only requirement for RC members is to make dorm residents and commuters aware of the event.  Film Fest will be April 25.

John Bennett moved to end the meeting. Garrett Marvich seconded the motion. Meeting ended at 10:21 p.m.
