September 18, 2007

Tom Pyle called the meeting to order at 9:33 P.M.  Brandon Baughman and Conlan Walsh were tardy.  Garrett Marvich was absent. 

1) Lindsey Moore opened the meeting in prayer. 

2) Katherine Bull moved to pass the minutes of Thursday, September 4, 2007. 
Meg Diemer seconded the motion.  Motion passed 8-0-1. 

3) Dorm Updates

a. Pearce—won “Capture the RC”!  Newsletters were passed out, and there is a building team meeting coming up. 

b. Memorial—Garrett Marvich was absent.    

c. Clarke—There is a building team meeting tomorrow; won “Capture the RC”!   

d. McKee—There is a lot of positive feedback from “Capture the RC”, and there is a building team meeting next week  

e. Young North—There is a building team meeting tomorrow.  Working on survey/request sheets regarding needed projects in the dorms.   

f. Young East—“Capture the RC” went well.  On Sunday afternoon men and women of Young led a worship service

g. Arms Men—Received a lot of good feedback from “Capture the RC”, and a little feedback from the newsletter.  There is increasing interest in the Little Bat tournament. 

h. Arms Women—A Hawaiian themed party, “Grill and Chill” was last week, and there is an upcoming karaoke party on 3rd floor hosted by the RA. 

i. Houses—There was a good turn-out for “Capture the RC”, and there is a building team meeting tomorrow night. 

j. Commuters—Disappointed about the turn-out for “Capture the RC”.  The Commuters requested an official letter to be sent about what’s happening with the Commons Room.  Jeff and Tom will work on the letter, but nothing is official. 

4) Proposals

a. Megan Diemer—Sports management class is hosting a ping pong tournament in which each dorm will be competing against each other.  RC’s are asked to be in charge of choosing 10 people to represent their dorm.  There is no monetary commitment, she just asked RC’s to be willing to draft a team. 

b. Lindsey Moore—Walk-A-Thon for Geneva Arm’s Women—Lindsey Moore moved to allocate $5 per participant from Arms for the walk-a-thon.  Bonnie Rapp seconded the motion.  The $5 per participant requested will go towards the American Heart Association.  The Walk-A-Thon will be held Saturday October 6, 2007.  Conlan Walsh moved to amend the motion and put a $200 limit.  John Bennett seconded the motion.  Amendment passed 9-0-0.  Motion passed 9-0-0. 

5) New Business

a. Jeff Kirksey talked about Catalyst.  The trip is taking the executive team along with 1 DC. 1 HC, 1 MCA, 1 RA staff from each building, and 3 GCSU members.  Dates are 10/3-10/6.  If you are interested, it is $25+meals.  Josh Lee, Brandon Baughman, and Vanessa Schmuck shared from their experience last year.  People must apply by early next week. 

6) Senate Updates

a. Budget—The Club Funding Packet passed  

b. Josh—Senate is currently planning Our Town.  Each Senator is signed up on different teams.  An alleyway light was purchased for behind Arms.  The website is coming along well.  The offices will be moved down to the level below the Brig around Fall Break!!  There will be a lot more space; Jeff Kirksey discussed the renovations of the Commons.   

c. Tom Pyle talked about Our Town and that it is required for people to go. 

7) Activities Update

a. Brandon Baughman gave the update.  Mainly working on Homecoming week.  Discussed the events of Homecoming Week. 

Conlan Walsh motioned to end the meeting.  John Bennett seconded the motion.  Meeting ended at 10:28 P.M.
