Staying in Rome
Semester in Rome Campus Visitation Policy
Students participating in the Semester in Rome have a tight schedule because their time in Italy is limited. Therefore, Geneva College welcomes visits from parents and friends during the regular semester within these guidelines:
Students may have visitors on campus as follows:
- Monday through Thursday: 1 p.m. to 9 p.m.
- Friday and Saturday: 11 a.m. to 10 p.m.
- Sunday: 1 p.m. to 7 p.m.
The Site Director reserves the right to alter visit days and times as needed to accommodate special events or community meetings and dinners, but will provide sufficient advance notice (at least 24 hours).
- Parents and friends should plan visits during times that students have their 10-day mid-semester break (fall and spring break).
- Because of restrictions placed upon our Rome campus by Italian law, we are unable to accommodate visitors for overnight lodging on campus. Please Note: Families or friends who plan to have students stay with them at a hotel in Rome need be aware that a reservation has to be made with the hotel for the entire party. Unlike in the United States, hotels in Italy are accountable to the local police for each person who stays at their hotel and each guest must present their passport upon check-in.
- The use of the campus kitchen and dining room is limited to students only and may not be used by students to prepare meals for family and friends.
- Guests cannot be accommodated on class field trips and activities.

Hotels
The quality of hotels is usually high in Italy, even at the two-star level. Most reasonably priced hotels have tile floors, small bathrooms, and basic furnishings. Look for photos and reviews online. We suggest that you check out www.Tripadvisor.com to read reviews of any hotels you are considering to see if they suit your needs and standards. A convent located near campus. You may call or have your student stop at the convent and book for you. It is likely that the person who answers the phone will not speak English.

Hostels
Hostels come in a variety of styles and a range of quality.
