TESL Minor Courses

The TESL minor is available for students who want to develop the special skills needed for teaching English to persons for whom English is not their first language. Twenty-one credit hours are needed to complete the following program:

 

ENG 328

History of the English Language 3
ENG 382 English Grammars  
or 383 3
ENG 413 Teaching English as 2nd Language 3
LIN 219 Introduction to Linguistics 3
CDS 220 Normal Speech Acquisition 3

 

ONE of the following 3 courses: 

 
ANT 201 Cultural Anthropology 3
LIN 220 Applied Linguistics 3
COM 225 Intercultural Communication 3

 

ONE elective in English:

ENG Elec.              English Elective in literature or writing excluding ENG 095,                              ENG 101, ENG 109 and ENG 110
