Veteran Stories - Eugene Margiotti

Eugene Margiotti ’63

United States Navy

Thanks so much for the call regarding the donation I sent to Geneva. But even more important is to thank Geneva College for accepting me as a student after I just completed my military, two year service in the Navy. Thanks to Geneva, [especially] after I was turned down by another college that gave me an entrance exam based mostly on current events after I just completed my Navy career with most of my time on a ship at sea.

With my background in the Navy as a metal smith and four years at Geneva, I was able to land an engineering job at General Motors Aircraft engine facility, which led to being sent to Plant #8, Research & Engineering facility as a Junior Mechanical Engineer, which led to Engineer, then Senior Mechanical Engineer; then to the position as Supervisor in Plant Engineering. I can honestly say that I enjoyed every single day working for G.M.
