Students

For anyone thinking that Geneva students live in a bubble, think again. On Saturday, April 8, Geneva students showed their community spirit by participating in Our Town, a volunteer clean-up of Beaver Falls.

“The event is to impact the community by allowing it to see that Geneva students are willing to forget about the typical distractions that college students are so easily wrapped up in,” said Janie Riffle, president of the Geneva College Student Union.

The Student Union headed up the project. Students helped out with tasks such as painting, yard work, trash collection, both on and off campus. Last year over 100 students participated.

“The purpose of the event was to get Geneva students involved in the community,” Riffle said. “It gave them a day to invest time and energy in their surrounding community, thus bridged the gap between Geneva and ‘our town.’”

The student volunteers were also raising funds to help the Beaver Falls Fire Department purchase a new fire truck. For more information about the project, contact the student activities office at 724-847-6644
