Minor in Teaching English as a Second Language

A Teaching English as a Second Language minor, commonly referred to as a TESL minor, is for students who want to develop the special skills needed to teach English to non-native speakers.

Course of Study (21 credits)

Required:
ENG 328 History of the English Language (3 credits)
ENG 382 English Grammars (3 credits)
ENG 413 Teaching English as a Second Language (3 credits)
LIN 219 Introduction to Linguistics (3 credits)
CDS 220 Language Development (3 credits)
Choose one of the following:
MIN 201 Cultural Anthropology (3 credits)
LIN 220 Applied Linguistics (3 credits) 
COM 225 Culture & Communications (3 credits) 
Choose one elective in English:  
English Elective in literature or writing excluding ENG 095, ENG 101 and ENG 110 (3 credits)
