Domestic violence presentation

Dr. Ron Moslener, associate professor of psychology, and Dr. Joe Peters, professor of psychology, presented papers at the East Regional Christian Association of Psychological Studies conference.

The theme of the November conference was “Love and responsibility: The divine plan for human love.”

Moslener ran a two-hour workshop titled: “When love turns irresponsible: Understanding dimensions of domestic violence and clinical assessment of couples exhibiting abusive or violent behaviors.” The workshop included a 50-minute role play and was followed by a question and answer session.

Moslener has been studying domestic violence since 1990, and he worked with a batterer treatment program in Beaver County for five years.

Peters presented a paper title: “Ethics on a Medical Unit.” Kevin Hoffman, a second year student in Geneva’s master’s in counseling program, assisted Peters in writing the paper and led discussion at the end the presentation.

Dr. Carol Luce, master’s in counseling program director, and a small group of Geneva students also attended the conference.

The annual East Region CAPS conference draws Christian faculty members and students in psychology and related areas at both the undergraduate and graduate level, as well as practitioners in the field.
