Meet the Coaches

Head Volleyball Coaches - Wendy Smith & Curt ConserWendy Smith and Curt Conser - Co-Head Coaches
Coming off their first season as a coaching tandem, Wendy Smith and Curt Conser led their team to a 17-18 record in 2007, including victories in 17 of their final 24 matches. Smith had led Geneva's program for seven years prior to the duo taking over last year. For the duration of her tenure as head coach, Wendy Smith had enjoyed having Conser alongside as her number one assistant. Last year, Conser was named Co-Head Coach and the formula seems to be working.

Smith began her Geneva coaching career as an assistant under former head coach Cindy Guthrie. Prior to Geneva , Smith served as an assistant coach at LaRoche College for three years. A graduate of Duke University , where she earned three varsity letters in volleyball, Smith received her undergraduate degree in religion. Following her years at Duke, Smith continued her education by receiving her law degree from the University of Pittsburgh . Smith began her coaching career as the head coach at Mt. Lebanon High School in the mid-80's.

Smith has increased her responsibilities on Geneva 's campus by teaching classes within the coaching and sport management majors on College Hill.

Conser graduated from Eastern Mennonite University with a bachelor's degree in mathematics. While at EMU, Conser was a standout volleyball player. A four-year letter winner, Conser served as the team captain in 1997 and finished his career ranked third in total kills and second in total blocks in the EMU career record book.

Conser spent a year coaching at Coffeyville Community College in Coffeyville, KS before serving as an interim head coach at West Virginia Wesleyan three years ago. In 2000, Conser moved on to Findley University as a men's grad.
