Meet the Coach

Linda_Sumner.jpgLinda Sumner begins a new era of Geneva women's soccer as she takes over as the Golden Tornadoes head coach for the 2007 campaign. One of Geneva's all-time greats on the field, Sumner is the school's second all-time leading goal scorer with 66 career tallies between the years of 1988-91.

Following her playing days, Sumner did spend three seasons as an assistant coach with the program, but the 2007 season will mark her first go-round as a head coach. On the field, Sumner earned NAIA All-American honors her senior year. Sumner's record of 66 goals stood for 15 years before it was recently broken during the 2005 season.

Actively involved in the Blackhawk Youth Soccer Association for the past five years, Sumner has remained a part of the local soccer community.

In addition to her head coaching duties, she will also serve as the discipleship coordinator for women's athletics at Geneva College.

Sumner, whose husband, Alan, has been the Geneva baseball coach for the past 19 years and is the school's all-time winningest coach, resides on College Hill with their children, Jamie and Erica.
