| Meet the Coach |
Sumner has compiled a 35-46-10 record in her first five years on the sidelines. One of Geneva’s all-time greats on the field, Sumner ended her playing career as the school’s all-time leading scorer with 66 goals, which is a record that has since been broken, but she remains number two on the list. She earned NAIA All-American honors her senior season and held the school goal scoring record for 15 years before it was broken in 2005. Following her playing days, Sumner spent three years as an assistant coach but the 2007 season was her first shot at the head coaching position. In addition to leading the women’s soccer program, Sumner also serves as the leader of the SAAC (Student-Athlete Advisory Committee) group on campus. Sumner, whose husband Alan is the head coach for the Geneva baseball team and is the school’s all-time winningest coach, resides in Chippewa Township with their children Jamie and Erica. |
