Academic Partners Program
Creative students explore meaningful topics. The Academic Partners Program supports academic faithfulness through one-on-one mentoring, development of an academic or fine arts project, and a capstone presentation opportunity.
Past projects have included the design of a propeller drive train for Geneva’s Solar Splash competition boat, a presentation of The Theater of the Absurd: The Chairs, a biography of David Metheny, a history of the Bloomington, IN Reformed Presbyterian congregation, and Foundationalism and Christianity: How Christians Approach Knowledge.
- Enrolls eight students each semester through a competitive application process.
- Fall semester students must have senior status, spring semester students may be either juniors or seniors.
- Each student will receive a $300 stipend and each faculty mentor will receive $200.
- The project must be an original academic or fine arts project. Students may receive independent study credit.
- Students will present the completed project on campus at the end of the semester.
- Tuition benefit allows enrolled students to take up to 20 credits with no additional charge.
Program Expectations
- Meet regularly and often with your partnering faculty member throughout the duration of your project.
- Respect the insights, suggestions and schedule of your partnering faculty member.
- Participate in a post-project discussion dinner with other students and faculty members.
Requirements for Consideration
- You must have a minimum GPA OF 3.60 at the time of application.
- You must be classified as a junior or senior upon commencement of your project.
- Your partnering faculty member must agree to work with you on the project.
- The project may be done as an independent study course for credit.
- You should be an exemplary representative of Geneva College as a comprehensive Christian college.
