From the Athletic Director
It is an exciting time for Geneva Athletics as we enter our third year of competition in the PAC and as we continue in our steps for becoming full members in the NCAA Division III.
An intercollegiate athletic program has an important place in a Christian liberal arts college. It is an integral part of the total college education environment and is ‘co-curricular’ rather than ‘extra-curricular’. Athletics provide an educational setting within the realm of sports activities whereby the student-athlete can learn more about herself/himself and others. The student-athlete can experience personal growth as well as growth in skills and knowledge of the sport in which she/he participates.
Athletics can also be a vehicle which provides opportunities for ministry to Christians and non-Christians involving both those on the team and those members of other teams with whom one competes. Athletics can also be a means of providing opportunities for discipleship for Christian team members.
My vision for Geneva College Athletics is that we will continue to move forward in all programs, and that we will maintain a quality example of what a Christian athletic program should look like and act like. As Geneva coaches and administrators we strive to demonstrate quality leadership and role-modeling. We must help student-athletes to develop in all aspects of their lives: academically, socially, physically, and spiritually. In addition, we should help our student-athletes continue to develop and use their abilities and talents to honor and glorify Jesus Christ.
We invite you to become a participant in Geneva Athletics, whether that is as a student-athlete or simply as a supporter of Geneva Athletics.
