FAQs for Classroom Courses

The ADP Core and Elective Course Offerings are intensive, so how much homework is involved?
A good rule of thumb for college courses is to expect 2 hours of homework for each hour spent in class. If your course meets for 4 hours each week, you can expect to spend another 8 hours in homework for your course each week.

When do I get my textbook and syllabus?
ADP Core and Elective Course materials, including your textbook and syllabus, are mailed directly to the address you specify two weeks before the start of your course.

Are there usually assignments before the first class?
Because ADP Core and Elective Courses are intensive, students are usually asked to familiarize themselves with the course syllabus and to do a preliminary assignment before the first class meeting.

How much writing is involved in ADP Core and Elective Courses?
Naturally, the amount of writing varies from course to course. Typically, you can expect 2-3 page reflection papers weekly and a longer, 6-8 page summary assignment at the end of the course.

How many students are enrolled in each ADP Core and Elective Course Offerings class?
ADP Core and Elective Courses have a minimum of 4 students and a maximum of 15 students per course.

Who are the instructors?
All instructors are Geneva College full-time or adjunct faculty members or instructors approved by the relevant academic department at Geneva College. Each instructor has made a devout confession of Christian commitment.

What if I have to miss a class?
Classroom-based courses are intensive and largely interactive, so missing a class means missing a large percentage of the course content. In the case of an unavoidable absence, individual instructors will evaluate participation and assign make-up work appropriate to the course. Missing more than two classes in an ADP Core and Elective Course will result in failing the course.
