Amy Solman, LPC, CADC, MA Director

Amy SolmanAmy is a Licensed Professional Counselor and a Certified Alcohol & Drug Counselor through the Pennsylvania Certification Board. She earned her bachelor's degree in Psychology and Business Administration from Grove City College. Amy went on to earn her masters degree in Counseling from Geneva College.

Amy has worked from 1994 to 2010 for ARC Manor (Addiction Recovery Center), a drug and alcohol treatment center located in Kittanning, Armstrong County. She has held various positions at this agency, including their Clinical Director. Her last position was as their Senior Treatment Specialist, whose duties included conducting assessments, crisis intervention, group counseling, and individual counseling in the Residential, Partial and Intensive Outpatient programs.

Amy has also worked as a contracted therapist for Northway Counseling Services through Northway Christian Community Church in Wexford, PA from 2004 to 2009. She provided professional Christian counseling services for individuals, groups, families and couples. She specialized in the area of drug/alcohol addiction, eating disorders, depression, anxiety, self injury and borderline personality disorders. She also provided training and education to local churches and community groups. She is a gifted trainer, having conducted seminars at her place of employment and various training conferences.

Graduate Assistants

Ryan Nyeholt

Ryan is a graduate student in the counseling program at Geneva College with a concentration in clinical mental health.  He graduated from Geneva with a BA in Student Ministry and a MA in Higher Education.
 
Ryan is happily married to Missy Nyeholt the director of the Center for Faith and Practice.  His work experience includes serving as a Job Coach/ Employment Specialist for Beaver County Rehabilitation Center.  He provided vocational and education support and facilitated a recovery group for individuals with mental disabilities, mental illness, and physical handicaps. Previous to beginning his work in the counseling center Ryan enjoyed six months at home taking care of their infant son, Amos.

Shanna Williams

Shanna is working as a graduate assistant in the Counseling Center while earning her master's degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Geneva College.  She graduated in May of 2013 from Pennsylvania State University with her bachelor's degree in Applied Psychology.

As an undergraduate, Shanna served as a Student Assistant for Penn State New Kensington's Academic and Career Success Center, where she provided students with peer advising, assistance in career exploration, tutoring, and more.  Most recently, she interned and then worked as a full time Psychosocial Rehabilitation Worker for Family Services of Western Pennsylvania, where she designed curriculum and conducted groups for adults with severe and persistent mental illness desiring to obtain/reestablish a valued role that symptoms of their mental illness previously prevented them from achieving. 

Shanna is looking forward to her new endeavor at Geneva College and is excited to get to know students on campus.  She eventually plans to pursue a career in equine assisted therapy.

Sarah Leslie

Sarah is working as a graduate assistant in the Counseling Center while earning a Master's degree in Marriage and Family Counseling at Geneva College.  Sarah graduated from La Roche College in May of 2014 with a double major in Psychology and Sociology.

At La Roche College, Sarah worked as both a peer Tutor and a Peer Counselor, assisting students with course work, study and time management skills, transitioning to college, and other concerns of a college student.  Sarah also gained crisis counseling experience interning at the Women's Choice Network and countinues to server as an educational outreach speaker, presenting a nationally acclaimed curriculum know as WAIT Training, that focuses on sexual education and risk avoidance through skill building and behavioral changes in local school districts.
