In the case of a pandemic, such as H1N1 flu, Geneva College will follow the guidelines of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, or CDC. 

In the case of H1N1, the CDC has been specific about the role and advice colleges and universities should provide.

Signs and symptoms of the flu include:

• A fever over 100 degrees
• Fever or chills
• A cough, sore throat or runny nose
• Body aches, headache or extreme tiredness
• Diarrhea or vomiting

If students, faculty, or staff experience flu-like symptoms, they should isolate themselves. They do not need to go to the classroom or the infirmary. To inform the college that they are sick, they should take a couple of minutes to complete the Flu Form.

Students should follow instructions as given. As part of that, they should stay in their home or residential room for 24 hours after they no longer have a fever.
