Beaver Falls and the surrounding area has a wealth of opportunities to offer college students. The City of Beaver Falls first began over 200 years ago as a small mill town on the Beaver River and rapidly grew to become one of Beaver County’s major cities. Its industrial and commercial growth earned it the nickname “a Pittsburgh in miniature” by historians.

Although no longer the industrial hub of Beaver County, Beaver Falls continues to be a vital part of the county and a pleasant place to live and work. A variety of ethnic restaurants, the Carnegie Public Library and weekly farmers’ markets are some of the attractions that add to the atmosphere of the community. But Beaver Falls is not the only community that college students can enjoy: New Brighton, Beaver, Ellwood City and Chippewa all offer a variety of historical sites, museums and art galleries, cultural venues and restaurants.

Whether on a class visit to historical places, honors or club activities to enjoy the cultural arts or all-campus trips to sports events, students at Geneva can take full advantage of Pittsburgh’s landscape.

Recently rated one of the most livable cities in the United States by Places Rated Almanac, Pittsburgh offers much for college students located within her city limits. History, culture, sports, recreation – these are just a few of the things that stand out about Pittsburgh.

Pittsburgh is home to many old-city neighborhoods that have retained their unique character. The Strip District, an area grown out of Pittsburgh’s industrial history, is home to unique retail produce stores, ethnic groceries and restaurants. Pittsburgh also houses eight cultural venues, including the Benedum Center for Performing Arts, the Byham Theater and SPACE – a new art gallery featuring local and regional artists. In addition, sports fans will appreciate the new Heinz Field and PNC Park, not to mention the atmosphere of sports fanaticism for which Pittsburghers have become famous.
