Head coach Linda Sumner and the 2008 Geneva women's soccer team enjoyed one of the most impressive turnarounds in school history. After winning only twice in her first season, Sumner led the Golden Tornadoes to an 8-5-5 mark in 2008. Along the way, Sumner was named the NCCAA East region coach of the year.
Geneva's 2008 team was built around defense as it led the PAC in least goals allowed. Junior goalkeeper Lauren Londino returns for the 2009 season after setting a new school record with 11 shut-outs. She posted a league leading 0.62 goals against average and a conference best saves percentage of .924.
The Golden Tornadoes will look to fill the void of the some key departures from the 2008 team but will look to the future with several key freshmen joining the Geneva family for the 2009 campaign.
