The Distinguished Service Award

Although Geneva College′s campus is quiet at this time of year, summer is not a slow time around the Alumni Relations Office. We are busy planning trips and events, both local and national, for the upcoming year. Without a doubt, Homecoming is our largest event, as we prepare to welcome back alumni and friends for a memorable day at Geneva. Many students and alumni volunteers come together to create a great experience for all of our guests, from those celebrating milestone reunions to visitors from local communities.

Previous 2012 Distinguished Service Award winners: (left to right) William Sterrett, Scott South, Ann Lawson, Andrew McCracken, David Howell, Dave Carver.

For me, the highlight of Homecoming weekend is the Alumni Brunch, when we present the Distinguished Service Awards. It is interesting to note that this award has been presented for 67 consecutive years, with 311 alumni being honored with one. I urge you to consider completing a nomination for a deserving graduate. With over 23,000 people eligible to receive the award, to date only 1.1 percent of Geneva alumni have received this recognition.

A committee appointed by the Alumni Council reviews all nominations and considers those who have clearly accomplished outstanding work in their profession, community and church, and have kept to the highest standards, clearly signifying what it means to be a graduate of Geneva College.
This whole process begins with you. If you know a Geneva graduate who you believe deserves this award, please do not hesitate to complete the form and nominate him or her today at /alumni/alumni-association/dsa/dsa_nomination_form.
