New faces on campus

As part of the ongoing effort to provide students with a high quality, challenging Christian education, Geneva College continually seeks to recruit top-notch candidates for open faculty positions. After conducting extensive national searches in recent months, the Leadership Team is pleased to welcome five new faculty members to campus for the fall 2011 semester.

Provost Dr. Ken Carson said, “During the search process, we look for people who possess exemplary academic credentials as well as a strong commitment to integrating the Christian faith in their classroom instruction. On behalf of the Geneva community, I would like to welcome the new members of the faculty, and I pray that God will use their knowledge and experience to bless our students.”

Dr. Anthony Comer is joining the engineering department with a focus on chemical engineering. He received a doctorate in chemical engineering from the University of Kentucky and a bachelor′s degree in chemical engineering from Purdue University. Before pursuing his doctorate, Comer worked as an engineer for BP Oil Company for 14 years.

Mr. Matthew Fuss has been hired as Assistant Professor of Business. He earned his bachelor′s degree in business administration from Geneva College and is currently a Ph.D. candidate in rhetoric and communication at Duquesne University. Fuss comes to Geneva from Duquesne University, where he served as Adjunct Professor of Communications. He also previously worked with at-risk youth at George Junior Republic of Pennsylvania and as a human resource and assistant operations manager at Hill International Trucks.

Dr. Mario Oyanader is part of the faculty for the new concentration in environmental engineering. He holds a Ph.D. in environmental engineering from Florida State University, received a master of science in information systems from Hawaii Pacific University and earned a bachelor of science in chemical engineering from the Universidad Católica Del Norte in his native Chile. Oyanader has taught in Chile, as well as Peru and Tennessee, and also worked in engineering and related fields in Chile.

Mr. Gordon Richards is taking a position in the business department with a focus on quantitative methods and information systems. He is a doctoral candidate in information systems and communication at Robert Morris University. Richards received a master′s in computer resource and information management from Webster University and a bachelor′s in management/computer information systems from Park College. Richards was recently a part-time faculty member in Geneva′s business department as well as an adjunct faculty member for Robert Morris University′s communication and information systems department.

Coach Lori Wynn joins the physical education department as the new Golden Tornadoes′ women′s basketball coach. Wynn was previously the head women′s basketball coach at Grace College and Malone University, Assistant Professor in the Health and Human Performance Department and Associate Director of Athletics at Malone University. Wynn received a bachelor′s degree in physical education at Houghton College and a master′s degree in health and physical education at East Stroudsburg University.
