A Message of Thanks

During the past few months, as Geneva College has been sharing its strategy for navigating the current environment in higher education, the college has received a great deal of support and encouragement from the community. Some of the sentiments expressed include:

“My prayer is with Geneva, its students, teachers, administrators, employees and trustees.”

“We would like to express our warmest thanks and appreciation to the faculty and staff members who are affected by these actions.  As a family, we will commit anew to pray for Geneva, as we thank the Lord for the life-shaping force you are in our student's life.”

“I was … very glad to read that there is interest in adapting to the many changes going on. Life and business is certainly not getting any easier.”

“It is promising to see so many positive changes that the school is making for current and future classes.”

The faculty, staff and administration thank you for lifting up Geneva during this time, which has required some of us to say goodbye to dear friends and valued colleagues as 11 staff members and three faculty end their service to the college by the end of this academic year. The cost containment plan that has been put into effect will phase out the following academic programs: graduate programs in Special Education and Reading; the graduate and undergraduate program in Cardiovascular Sciences; and undergraduate majors in Music Performance and Biblical Languages. The college will discontinue the Semester in Rome Program after the 2014/2015 school year and will offer the Adult Degree Program′s Christian Ministries program in a face-to-face classroom format only.

And in looking forward, the college requests your continued prayers and support as we welcome new faculty in communications, engineering, business and counseling, and launch new programs in criminal justice and biomedical engineering.

To the members of this community, thank you for being such a blessing.

“…pray continually, give thanks in all circumstances, for this is God′s will for you in Christ Jesus.”
1 Thessalonians 5:17-18

Correction

The July @Geneva message contained the following statement: “Geneva′s Board of Trustees approved a tuition freeze for the 2014-15 academic year and pledged to keep future tuition increases below inflation.” The statement should have read: ”Geneva′s Board of Trustees approved a tuition freeze for the 2014-15 academic year and affirms the intent to try and keep future tuition increases at or below inflation.” We apologize for the error.
