One degree program, two different paths

A bachelor's degree from a respected institution can provide tremendous benefit to those who earn it, with the outcomes being as individual as the people themselves.

Both Amy Noon and Albert DeAmicis chose the academically challenging and distinctively Christian perspective of Geneva College. They enrolled in Geneva′s Adult Degree Completion Program (ADCP), designed to accommodate the busy schedule and geographic accessibility which is so important for adults. ADCP offers four majors that are specific enough to match a variety of interests, yet broad enough to complement the adult student′s work and education experience.

Amy Noon and Albert DeAmicis both earned bachelor′s degrees in human resources through the ADCP, but they used their respective degrees to serve themselves and others in different ways. In essence, they defined what their degree allowed them to do and not the other way around.

Amy Noon, Johnstown HR 173, has used her Bachelor of Science degree in human resources to secure a job in the field. She is currently working as the Human Resources Director at McAneny Brothers, Inc., a food distribution company in Ebensburg, Pa. Before beginning the ADCP, Amy knew that in order to go further in her career she would need to complete her bachelor's degree. Shortly after graduation, she took a job in social services working as a career counselor and found that she was suited and called to work in training, an offshoot of human resources. Amy credits Geneva′s ADCP with equipping her to move into a career area where she can thrive and help others. She has also completed her master's degree in adult training and education at Indiana University of Pennsylvania. She says that her education and work experience help to make her a well-rounded Human Resources Director.

Albert DeAmicis, Pittsburgh HR 117, used his Bachelor of Science degree in human resources as a foundation to working in public safety and corrections. Albert had worked in corrections before entering the ADCP Human Resources cohort, but moved forward in his career after graduating. He also delved into graduate studies at the University of Pittsburgh Graduate School of Public and International Affairs, earning a master's in public policy and management. And recently he completed his second master's degree, public and international affairs with a concentration in security and intelligence studies. Albert has used his experience in the corrections field and his extensive education, beginning with his bachelor's degree in human resources from Geneva, to work at the Allegheny County Bureau of Corrections and as an adjunct faculty member at the University of Pittsburgh. The foundation of a Geneva College degree served Albert well.
