Rick Riley was born and raised in western Pennsylvania. His father attended Geneva College and Rick himself attended the Community College of Beaver County for an associate degree in business management. However, he ended up moving east in search of job opportunities. Unfortunately, those opportunities were hard to find and he came back to this area. Upon his return, he learned of the Geneva College Adult Degree Completion Program (ADCP). The accelerated program was a perfect fit for him as he searched for a job in the area—one night a week, from 6-10 p.m., for 17 months. It didn′t take him long to secure a management position at a local business. And while the demands of a fulltime job and school are rigorous, the camaraderie Rick had with his classmates who were in similar situations offered a lot of encouragement and support. Rick graduated from Geneva College in ′91, but his academic and career pursuits did not end there. He began the Master of Science in Organizational Leadership (MSOL) program at Geneva. While he was pursuing his master′s degree, he started working as the Program Manager for Job Training for Beaver County, Inc. In this position, Rick helps people in Beaver County move forward in their careers. He works with many different populations including dislocated workers and out-of-school youth. Rick is using his talents and education to give back to the community that has played such an important role in his life. And Rick can certainly say that the roots of Beaver County and Geneva College grow strong and deep. He is pleased to say that his son is continuing in the footsteps of his father and grandfather—a Geneva student set to graduate in 2013. The Geneva College Adult Degree Completion Program could change your life or the life of someone you know. So even if you are an ADCP grad or current student, please share this email with others.
