June 2012The Geneva College Adult Degree Completion Program could change your life or the life of someone you know. Please share this email with others who may benefit from a Geneva College ADCP education. Riding into the FutureStudents from the Adult Degree Completion Program celebrated graduation last month. There were 93 ADCP students who officially joined the nearly 3,000 Geneva graduates who have earned bachelor′s degrees in human resources, community ministry organizational development and human services through the ADCP. This was a great reason to celebrate.
For 17 months or more, the students studied amidst their challenging schedules of work and family, and met one night a week for class. ADCP follows a cohort model, in which the group of students who start together continue together throughout the duration of the program, so the students become close friends. Busy adult students are encouraged to find that their classmates are in similar situations. The students in the cohort provide support and understanding to each other as they tackle the monumental task of earning a bachelor′s degree. So on May 5, 2012, students from Cohort HR 269 decided that they had gone through the challenges and joys of the program as a group, so they would culminate their educational experience together. They rented a bus to accommodate their group members and their families, and travelled together from Monroeville, PA to the Geneva College campus in Beaver Falls, PA for their commencement ceremony. The camaraderie displayed by the students in HR 269 is an example of the community that develops during the 17 months of ADCP. When students join the program, they do so to advance their own lives and careers. It′s a wonderful benefit of ADCP that the students who accept the challenge to travel on a journey to receive their bachelor′s degree find that they don′t do it alone, but with a group of fellow adults who also aspire to advance. That, the students say time and time again, makes all the difference in the world. To HR 269 and to all the 2012 Geneva graduates of the ADCP, congratulations! As you use your education to advance your personal and career goals, may you also be blessed by the cohort members who have traveled the journey with you.
