A message from President Smith

Dr. Kenneth A. SmithWelcome to the inaugural edition of The Geneva Bulletin. This quarterly e-newsletter for pastors and churches is designed to better acquaint you with Geneva College and the many resources we offer to churches. My name is Ken Smith; I am a graduate of Geneva and now serve as president of the college.

While Geneva College is not a church, we believe that our mission is complementary to that of the church. Faith and learning are inseparable as our students are prepared to become servant-leaders, ready to transform their work, families, churches, and communities for Christ′s kingdom.

Geneva College is home to a diverse population of students, each with unique gifts, interests, and life experiences. Students attend chapel every week and are encouraged to be involved in Bible studies and accountability groups. Because we believe evangelism is part of our mission as a college, we accept students from a variety of faith backgrounds. As a result, our Christian students interact with both Christians and non-Christians on campus, and we encourage them to imitate the love of Christ in every situation. By God′s grace, we have had the joy of seeing many students come to faith during their years at Geneva.

For more than 160 years, Geneva has been committed to a Reformed Christian worldview. We believe that the Bible is the infallible Word of God, and because God made the world and sent His Son to redeem it, He is at the center of learning and life at Geneva College. This foundation becomes the context in which the faculty and students pursue every field of study as a particular aspect of life in God′s creation. Geneva′s philosophy for this Bible-based, Christ-centered education is outlined in the Foundational Concepts of Christian Higher Education.

Founded in 1848 by the Reformed Presbyterian Church of North America, Geneva College is a comprehensive Christian college of the arts, sciences, and professional studies. Geneva is a founding member of the Council for Christian Colleges & Universities (CCCU). The traditional undergraduate program includes 32 majors and 41 concentrations. Elementary education, business, engineering, student ministry, biology, and psychology are our most popular degree programs. The Geneva College Adult Degree Completion Program provides an accessible way for non-traditional students to earn a bachelor′s degree. Geneva also offers seven graduate programs.

If you are not familiar with our institution, I invite you to visit our campus in person or through our website. As you discover all that we have to offer, please encourage college-bound students to consider attending Geneva College.
