A Message from the Bookstore
Buying college textbooks can be overwhelming, and here at Geneva′s campus store, we work to make the process as easy and affordable as possible. This fall, students will have a variety of options when it comes to selecting their books.
Used Books. If your student needs to purchase a book, used books are the best value. A used book can save 25% off the price of a new book.
New Books. Why would your student want to buy a new book? Maybe she just loves that new book smell. Maybe she doesn't like to see what other students have highlighted. And sometimes her instructor wants to use the most recent edition of a book, and there just aren't any used copies available.
Digital Books. A growing number of books are available in digital format. With a CafeScribe digital textbook, your student can highlight, take notes and share his notes with classmates and other students using the same book. Go to www.cafescribe.com and try it free for seven days.
Rent-A-Text. This is a brand-new option in Geneva′s campus store. On average, renting a text will save your student more than half the price of a new book. Currently, 30% of the books in the store are rentable, but we are working to increase that percentage with each semester.
How does rental work? Special red tags on the bookshelves in the store and a special icon online will indicate that a title is available to rent. Next, a short rental agreement is completed. Students can register online at www.rent-a-text.com, or start a quick registration at the store that can be completed online later. The renter must be 18 years of age and provide ID and a credit card (in the renter′s name).
Can all books be rented? We're working with professors and textbook publishers to identify as many rental titles as possible. Generally speaking, a book needs to be widely used and early in its life cycle (a recently released edition) to be a rental title.
How is Rent-A-Text different from other rental programs?
We hope this textbook rental option is helpful for you and your student. If you have any questions, please contact us at firstname.lastname@example.org or 724-847-6595. We look forward to seeing your son or daughter on campus this fall!
