As the calendar turns to another year, it is a natural time to reflect on and express gratefulness for God′s provision. I am thankful that "neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord" (Romans 8:38-39).
Each year, students have an opportunity to share their gratefulness on a banner during Family Weekend. The new banner graces the wall of my office, serving as a daily reminder of the mission that we serve at the college-glorifying God through educating and ministering to students-and the family and friends that provide the encouragement and support to make this possible.
The banner reads, "Thank you to our families from the students of Geneva College." Here is a sample of the comments from students expressing their gratefulness:
On behalf of the college, I would like to add my thanks that you and your child have followed God′s leading to be part of the Geneva community. I am grateful that your child has Accepted the Challenge of a Geneva education. I pray that the rigorous academics and the Christ-centered perspective impact your child significantly. May Geneva be a blessing to your child. I know that we are blessed by our students!
The psalmist David says, "Surely you have granted him eternal blessings and made him glad with the joy of your presence" (Psalm 21:6). It is my prayer that you have experienced the joy of God′s presence through both the blessings and the brokenness this past year. May God richly bless you and care for you during this season and throughout the coming year.
