Student Leadership & Connection Points
Greetings Geneva parents! It is my hope that your summer has been filled with enjoyable and enriching activities. As you read this, the students have already started classes and are beginning the process of connecting their academics with their faith. Many are connecting in other ways, too, by participating in music ensembles and fall sports, exploring local churches, or serving as student leaders. If your son or daughter is looking for ways to make connections and get involved, here are some of my recommendations:
Campus Clubs. Geneva's clubs and organizations offer a variety of opportunities to get plugged in on campus. Whether your son or daughter enjoys the arts, plays sports, is looking for a service opportunity, or wants to join an accredited chapter of an academic club, there is something for everyone. We have over 35 different campus clubs with a variety of options for getting connected and involved. And we are also accepting new club proposals-we love to hear new ideas! BETA. If your son or daughter will be a first-year student this coming fall, then this program is for them. This program for incoming students is intentional about helping students discover more of their leadership potential, expand their leadership knowledge and gain a better understanding of how to engage their leadership skills, both now and in the future. From theory to practice, we cover a variety of topics pertinent to developing college students as servant-leaders-empowered to serve on campus, in the church and in the community. BETA is a completely voluntary program that runs from late October to late February. It offers a chance to get to know other students interested in leadership and serving on campus, as well as the opportunity to hear from current campus student leaders. Click here to find out more.
Student Leadership. Our student leadership program, GC Life, facilitates student service positions and empowers student servants for faithful leadership in the Geneva community. Each year, over 125 students join GC Life to explore opportunities to become more Christ-like in leadership and service. By combining formal training in theory and skills with experiential learning opportunities, GC Life offers tremendous opportunities for students to make a difference-and be transformed themselves as well while doing so. Please check out GC Life to learn more about the program and the variety of positions offered.
As you converse with your son or daughter, I encourage you to ask about how he or she would like to get involved at Geneva. These are only a few of the many opportunities we offer as a way to connect at Geneva College-I hope students take advantage of at least one of them!
The Office of Student Leadership Development enables students to discover their leadership potential by engaging students in intentional opportunities that develop their gifts, strengths, and abilities for faithful service in Christ′s Kingdom.
