Hello, parents, from Career Development! Scripture assures us that God has a plan for all of us: "For we are God's workmanship, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do" (Ephesians 2:10). Our department enjoys serving the students in so many ways.
Our programs, services and resources help prepare students in their calling, career and professional development each step of their college career.
Freshmen: Self-Assessment Stage
We provide a comprehensive career assessment, 30+ pages personalized to the student, assessing their personality type, skills, occupational interests and values. Students also receive career counseling with this resource to help them discover their interests and study and career options. We partner with the alumni office to provide student/alumni mentoring through the Student-Alumni Connect program.
Sophomores: Career Awareness Stage
We provide programs and resources to help students assess their career options with their major. Consider looking at our "What Can I Do With My Major?" website. Our career resource center, career exploration fairs and career counseling help students connect their interests with career opportunities.
Juniors: Reality Testing Stage
Juniors typically start into their concentrations to prepare for their future profession. Our office helps students pursue internship opportunities, networking and related experiences. We maintain an internship database and provide internship fairs.
Seniors: Implementation Stage
We provide comprehensive job search and grad school preparation programs. Our job search services include resume & cover-letters, personalized job search strategy appointments, on-campus recruiting, job fairs, thousands of job postings via Geneva Job Link, mock interviews, salary information and more!
We offer graduate school prep workshops, a comprehensive graduate school help website, graduate program listings and resources, and graduate school essay and interview assistance.
The Career Development Office offers a full schedule of events during the year to assist students as they consider calling and vocation and then prepare them to go from the backpack to the briefcase. Click here to see the many opportunities that are offered to students.
