Help Students Make The Connection
Parents—congratulations on your child being accepted to Geneva College! This monthly e-newsletter is designed to be helpful to parents. As you celebrate your son or daughter′s graduation from high school, we want to provide information and opportunities for you to help them transition well into life in college. Here is an opportunity for your student to get connected and ready for life at Geneva.
Connections Day – April 11, 2014
Selecting a college can be an overwhelming process, and making a final decision is a big step. At Geneva College, Connections Day is a time for incoming students and their parents to visit campus and get connected. For those who have not yet made a final college decision, this is a great opportunity to confirm that Geneva is the right fit.
Connections Day is specifically designed for admitted students in order to help them further connect with the campus community and fellow incoming students. Students and parents will get to experience a college class, learn about the next steps in preparing for life at Geneva and explore Geneva′s various co-curricular opportunities. There will be fun interactive activities for students. Parents, you will have the opportunity to meet and ask questions of a current student, parent of current student and student development staff—people who can be helpful in preparing you for this important transition.
Getting connected to Geneva′s campus community is a key element of making a smooth transition to college. In addition to helping students connect, we will also be providing multiple opportunities for students to win fun and useful prizes that will prepare them for life as a Geneva student. Here are just a few examples of the prizes they can win:
- A mini fridge, microwave or TV—valued between $50 and $150
- Free Freshman Expedition—$200 value!
- Snack basket provided by intramurals, student activities or welcome week team
- Geneva gear
- Gift cards from $10 - $50
- Personal move-in crew
- And more to come!
