Jericho Hilling

Jericho Hilling, Geneva Environmental Engineering student

For Jericho Hilling, Geneva College was the best option. The junior environmental engineering major chose Geneva because he wanted to attend a school with a Christian environment that would support and strengthen his strong faith, earn a degree in a great engineering program, and play college baseball. Jericho also liked the small size of Geneva where the professors and campus community got to know him personally and truly care for the students. He says, “I wanted a small school where everyone took an interest in me and I wasn’t just another number.”

Jericho’s passions include baseball, meeting new people, faith, his family and hunting. Jericho hunts with his family every chance that he gets; hunting is an important family activity. He remarks, “Everyone in my family always has a story to tell about hunting or a deer they saw. It really brings us together.” Jericho’s family has had strong influence on his life and is a huge reason why he has a strong focus on faith and tries to live a life based on his Christian convictions.

Jericho is very glad that he chose Geneva. The academic challenge that Geneva has to offer ensures that he is constantly learning new things.

On the baseball field, he is a first baseman, catcher and a member of a second family - his Geneva baseball team.  He says, “I’ve met some great people at Geneva that I never would have met elsewhere.”

Jericho’s future goals are to become an environmental engineering consultant so that he can help to preserve the environment and God’s creation. He also aspires to provide clean water for those less fortunate by specializing in water quality. Geneva is helping to prepare him for that kind of success.
